Because this isn't anything remotely serious. I simply felt the need to share this because it certainly gave me a good laugh. Tis the reason it is hung opposite my bed. Perfectly placed below what is to be HOPE-ful for the future.... <----This may not be the most inspirational quote, per say, to start your day but every time my eyes make contact, I can't help but let out a chuckle. And any day that starts with laughter sounds like a good day to me! "Could you briefly describe …?" One of my dearest, closest friends JUJU (as I like to call her, since freshman year) is in her beginning stages of becoming a fierce LAWYER!!! Yes, the actress turned lawyer. "Objection!" "Overruled!" Are you kidding?! This calls for a TV SERIES! Not too far fetched if you ask me. If anyone can do it it's Miss Julie B. herself. If you know JUJU, you know she is bound to win any argument. "Keep your voice up." Which is why I keep the post-it note reminder. The sole lawyer advice I've learned from her thus far. In any case-REMEMBER: "the law says: pay me BITCH!" ("Use your common sense.") "Call your next witness!" Fine-PROOF?? In formal sense: "The laws of intentional torts, including but not limited to battery, assault, false imprisonment, and negligence, the victim or moving party is entitled to monetary recovery." Straight out of a casebook in civil law, ladies and gents. Do I really have any idea what this means?! Nope. But as far as I'm concerned..."(Remember, You are under oath.)"...JUJU does and tells it like it is. The truth. (She can handle it) Plain and Simple. I've respected her since day one for always telling the truth-And I'll never forget how we met. Sitting next to each other on the first day of classes, I try to make conversation and choose to with this studious and quiet, girl yet ironically accompanied with that crazy, unruly, amazing curly hair---I knew there was something with this chick. Sitting there with her legs all crossed, and cool clothes, and matching notebook and pen, with a look in her eye that says "I'm ready to dominate the world." Everything on her was NOT normal. Everything had a story. Picking out a very unique piece of jewelry on her arm, I didn't know I was picking a very unique story to go along with it. Nor did I realize I'd just picked out a life-long friend. I complimented how pretty this bracelet was and what the quote said. She said it was a quote for her younger brother who had passed years ago yet still holds dearly onto her heart. Plain and Simple. I was stunned. Silent. I didn't know what to say except stare her in the face and finally say: "Thank you....uh uh uh, I'm so sorry to hear, but it's a good reminder..." (conversation trails on non-stop followed by laughter, until the professor hushes us). TRUTH PEOPLE. TRUTH. There's no reason NOT to tell the truth. The realness and rawness and vulnerability of TRUTH. She opened up immediately and so it forced me to open as did our friendship. I have certainly learned that relying on a best friend to tell you the truth....is a true friend indeed. JUJU is not afraid to tell me the brutally honest gosh-darn truth. So I do the same right back at her. Our friendship has gotten stronger because of it. And there is not one ounce of judgment. And I thank her. I thank her for allowing me to come to her with ANYTHING on my mind, on my heart. A place where I can just open up the can of worms and she will listen. And then speak her mind....naturally. But that is whats real. Annnnd sidenote JUJU-I'd want to win back as much "monetary recovery" as possible, for what? Not sure? But please and thank you! "I hearby pronounce:" Overall, a best friend lawyer friend who can win you money!? is ALWAYS a good friend to have your back. But the ones who can stand up to the truth and not be afraid of it, is the best kind of friend to have your back regardless of any money involved. "CASE DISMISSED."
