Why Moving Spirit? Bring yourself to a moment in your life when you felt completely alive. How would you describe that feeling of "completely alive"? Do any sensations return to you in this present moment simply thinking about it? Is there a yearning for this feeling within you? Welcome to noticing. When we can bring our awareness inward, we open ourselves up to a whole new world. Interesting how that works. I remember one of the first times I felt this feeling of being completely alive. It happened through movement work and my imagination. It awakened sensations I didn't know I had. My perception of the outside world was forever changed because I began to notice. It was so thrilling! I found myself constantly chasing this feeling. Through my continued movement practice, learning, and teaching, I kept coming back to this feeling. It was something I couldn't always grasp but knew I could experience it and relate to it. I realized, it wasn't something external I needed to search for, it was something deep within me that was revealing itself. I was meeting Spirit. So here I am exploring... What if we didn't have to chase it? What if we could live it, breathe it, move with it; with that something deep within? We don't. And we can. I find it so amazing that the word SPIRIT is considered a noun, verb, and adjective. We can relate to Spirit, similarly to the way we can relate to our physical body. I am body. I am spirit. I am with body. I am with spirit. I move body. I move spirit. I move with body. I move with spirit. This is where Moving Spirit comes in. When we move, we notice the sensations of the life within us - movement opens us and frees us so that energy can flow through us. Spirit flows through us! Spirit is that which animates the body! Spirit is what gives us life! Spirit is a dynamic connection of body and soul! Spirit is an integration with the creative divine! ...so when we move with spirit, we can remove stagnation and we can allow expansion in our consciousness, our imagination, and our presence. Movement takes us out of our thinking mind and drops us into our whole being. The movement exercises and prompts I teach and practice help guide us into activating our body so that we can meet the activated Spirit. ((Tired of that word "spirit" yet?? You can also think of it as breath or energy)). Putting these exercises into practice awakens our senses and sensitivities to a deeper self. Basically, everyone deserves to feel completely alive...for a moment, for a day, for a lifetime. And movement is a way to bring us there. As Renaissance architect and author Leon Battista Alberti said: "...the movements of the body reveal the movements of the soul." So let us move. Moving together is vital, it is energy, it is life. That little whisper within, it’s calling you to move...I encourage you to explore it. *wink* Activate Your Spirit with this Movement Prompt
